So it had happened again, huh? Mirun honestly didn't understand why people liked to wander in the north if they weren't properly prepared. This one ended up freezing to death, and he was waiting for their final breaths. The shivering person was staring at him, as if seeing him, but Mirun knew he wasn't. Not yet. At the moment of his own death Mirun remembered staring at something that seemed to fade in and out, until he was right about to die, and he saw the old Death standing over him, a sad look in his eyes. So there Mirun was, watching the eyes widen in fear and disbelief before fading to grey. He also watched the man's soul slowly stand, wobbling in the air before looking down at his body. "So that's it then? No angels?" "No angels," Mirun replied, patting the soul's shoulder. "Have fun in the afterlife, buddy. I hear its pretty sweet." The man nodded and soon disappeared. Yeah. Mirun liked souls better than mortals. They were more accepted over the fact they died, usually. Not all but most.
The soul vanished in a gentle light, leaving Mirun standing there. He turned and walked back south, leaving the mountains and the snow until he reached the forest. Eh, he didn't really want to go anywhere else for now. As soon as he was near the beach, he heaved out a breath, seeing it in the chilled air. It felt nice hear. Mozart, the Fogbound Shapshifter having taken the form of a snow leopard, followed him, glancing around at the scenery. It was a rather nice day. Yet when were they leaving. The creature looked up at Mirun, ready to transform when they had to go back home, but the God was content for the moment. Mirun sat down on a patch of grass away from the ocean, laying his head back on his folded palms, staring at the sky before he closed his eyes. Time for a nap.

Oderna, was exploring the Owl City looking at all the pretty colors and fancy jewel markets... OH how she could live here, lurking from shadow to shadow... Stealing anything with a glint. They don't need it, they didn't even care for it. Why it looked so lovely on her, where did all these jewels she stole go? Well they were all stored in her shadow storage, a reason she is so good stealing and well random outfits. Then it happened... She felt a wrinkle in her shadows.. a sort of vibration, she wouldn't be able to explain it if you asked her... A figure has just fallen his shadow no longer holding meaning, who was this? It mattered not... What mattered was why he had fallen... It was the work of death, Oderna knew it.. With every piece of her being... How did she know this? Who else takes care of the lost souls? Those who no longer held meaning?
What would Death need? Comforting that's what, who to provide that comfort? Why The thief, who else? She quickly placed all the jewels in her storage shadow, switched to her normal black dress gourmet, held a breath to teleport. The shadow she teleported to was a shadow made by the sand, she stayed next to the sand watching her love. She did not know of Mirun's current love, she did not care, she only cared about him... The true giver of life. Oh how she wished he would hold her, cry on her.. Many centuries on this island, not once has the two ever gotten close enough... Some odd reason she always fainted or it grew too dark... Like a cage she couldn't escape.
Slipping out of the sand hideout, she crept silently over to Mirun using her shadows to silence her steps. Must be romantic and surprising to him as possible... She crept closer, heart pounding faster... When she was close enough she crossed her arms in front of her medium length black dress, picked just for him... "You had to do it, you had no choice..." she approached slowly before reaching out to touch his shoulder, to comfort him... Hoping that maybe he could spill everything to her, and she could spill everything to him...
She understood him, she always has... Could he potentially understand her?

Mozart had gone to taking a nap on another path of grass, not sensing anything in his surroundings. Which was odd for the special creature, but then again, Mozart wasn't even a match for any God or Goddess. Mirun didn't sense anything either, peacefully snoozing on the grass, his eyes closed, his body relaxed. The sudden voice made his eyes fly open, his heart rate increase, and his hand go to the side, ready to summon his scythe. he sat up quickly, feeling his shoulder touched. He stared at the woman, eyes wide in surprise. He relaxed when he recognized her, giving a small chuckle. "Damn, you scared the hell out of me," he said, rubbing his eyes as he sat cross-legged. "And yeah, I know." He was quiet then, looking back at her. Well, this was kinda awkward.
"So, what brings you here, Goddess of Shadows?" Well, Criminals and Shadows and Stories and all that, but Mirun had been around this island for a few thousand years so, he could nearly recognize a God or Goddess when he saw one. Besides, it took an unnatural power to sneak up on the Grim Reaper or his Fogbound Shapeshifter. Speaking of which, Mozart had grown tense, glaring at the Goddess with an intense hate, fangs bared. He didn't relax till Mirun waved a hand at the creature shifted into a Hell Hound form. The dog blinked and laid down, keeping his eyes on her.

The title, why does he always have to use the title? Oderna gave an internal sigh before replying to him, "well, just you always seek to be away from everyone when you have recently taken away a life. Do you, maybe wanna talk about it?" Her voice sounded so hopeful, as if this was the moment he will talk to her. Accept her for who she was. She sat down nearby on the sand, every inch of her wanted to lay her head on his chest. To feel the warmth beneath the cold. She wanted to hold him tightly let him know she was there for him, to comfort him, to just understand his pain. Though nothing could be done, not without his acceptance, his permission.
//I apologize for short and crappy mobile reply, edited all typos....//

"Yeah, you're right about that," he replied. He liked to be alone when he had to take someone's life. Every now and then he would be alright, just wishing to be silent for a few moments, other times he liked to lay down and sleep. It depended. This time, he wanted to just think about things. "I suppose I just thought it would get easier after a few thousand years, but it never does," he mused, talking about it without even realizing that he was. Usually he kept his mouth shut about his job but... oh right, she was the Goddess of Stories too. Probably won't help to hide anything anyway, she probably already knew it all. Goodness that was creepy in some aspects. "I mean, I've always thought about the still living, you know? Death is a release for those who had died, but a real trial for the living. I mean, that man probably had a family, kids. A wife maybe. And he's never coming home."
He patted Mozart's head, the hell hound placing his giant chin on Mirun's lap, watching the other closely. "I wonder how I can even sleep at night."

She listened to every word he spoke, he spilled it all to her... Tonight was such a special night, she wanted to jump in a victory dance. He trusted her! He trusted her with this information, with his feelings! Yes! No, no she must keep herself together... Must focus on helping him out, she understand him more than anyone else on this island... How it was to live years, many years on this island... Watching creatures and people dying over and over again... Watching fights, murderers, and bad decisions again and again. She inched closer to him, almost to the point of touching his skin...
She looked up toward the sky, the same sky that seemed to gradually get darker and darker... "When I help murderers get away with cruel deeds, or kidnappers steal children shattering any hope of a future... It is cruel over and over again... Though while I help them, I also get to help with a gift of helping man to steal food and clothing from each other for surviving. I get to give man the courage to stand up and rebel against rules that seem most ridicules, allow the power of free will of choices.. Just I may have it hard, but I also am blessed with second greatest godly power of all..." She spoke low, this was important, she must not mess it up... Her eyes shifted to stare at Lord Death's shoulder, what skin probably lurked beneath that clothing... "All those crimes end up hurting some sort of family... But they must happen so that those around will understand you must enjoy what you have, while you have it." She paused letting what she has just said to sink in before continuing on her comforting, "As one who takes away lives.. That same family who has to now struggle, will love each other greater... They may not want to admit, but to lose one, truly helps others love each other more... You give the gift of hope, a reason for its existence." She spoke softly her breath traveling closely... How she wished he understood her, understood how alike they were... To see the connection of the pains they both faced.
Why were they so different? Yet so similar? Why did he not pay much heed to the shadows that protect him, her shadows? Was it that she was not good enough for him? She did not sacrifice enough for him? Why, why... Why did he not notice her? Oderna? The thief amoung thieves, the one who forced those to love what they have... The one who.. who.. went through as much pain as He! Tears began to swirl into Oderna's eyes, why could he not see her for who she was?

This was starting to get a little weird and uncomfortable. Mirun was all for chatting about things, but he had been around the block a few times to tell where something was leading, or in some cases, where it might go. He had only been in a steady relationship for the past... how ever old Raphael was in his God life, but he had had many others in the past to nearly tell. He studied the Goddess carefully, giving a smile as he patted Mozart's head, standing up on the grass to stretch. He had more work to do before the day came. He also had to go make sure Raphael was well. Mirun tried not to stay out too late working. After all, some people could hold onto their last grain of sand until they finally passes, giving him some time to spend with his love and by himself. He waved a hand and an hourglass appeared, the sand trickling down rather slowly, but it was almost empty.
"Well, well," he said with a sigh. "It seems I need to go get this one. It was nice chatting with you." he said, knowing full well that the hourglass had about seven hours in it, but hey, he was really the only one that could properly read them. It varied from person to person after all. Mozart grunted in thanks to the Gods that they were leaving, shifting into a Teostra, shaking the bright crimson fur of some embers that landed and burned on the sand. Mirun prayed she wouldn't be able to catch him lying, well, it was a half-lie, half-truth. He really did have to get going, but not at that exact moment. He just didn't want anything to be awkward if she got any closer to him. Mirun was all for flirting, but mostly with men than with women. Even if he was taken, but this was just making him slightly uncomfortable.

He picked himself up, she felt any imagined warmth leaving her... Maybe he thought of her words? Maybe he was going to offer help her up? Maybe he'll hold her tightly, tell her it was okay? That it was Fate, and that she was right? Hope filled her with all these possible scenarios... Oh how she wanted one of them to happen, to happen now.. When he didn't come closer she looked up at him, all hope slipping away.
He moved his hand to summon an hourglass, she knew what this meant... It always seemed to happen, if that other thing did not happen... He had more things to do, more errands to run, was always something. How she wished she could go with him, such a busy god... He gave a sigh about explain that he had to go, did he care enough to let her know? Is this why? She looked away giving a sigh, "go they need you...", she believed every inch of his lie. She whispered inside her own head, more than me... they need you more than me...
Something lurked underneath, she was actually quite enjoying this moment, such a silly girl this one was. Why would Death love her? Not while he had Life, such a silly idea. The lurking sister gave a smirk at this turn of events, here was a great chance to mess with Lord Death, such lovely work he did. The sister currently in control seemed so sad, aww poor her, Odatori could not help but enjoy it, every bit of it.
Well it is time to take control before he leaves, she does need to shake him a little bit, even a little. She forcibly pulled the current sister, Oderna, out of the mind forcing her own way in. The girl would only feel darkness, then be trapped by that very darkness of the mind, with no memories of what caused it. It seemed a self defense mechanism all odettes felt, kind of sad really. The only one who didn't know, was really the most fun of them all, Odile, oh how she missed the pitiful girl.
Odatori began to feel the control of the limbs with a gleeful smile, she then cracked into laughter gradually picking herself up from the sitting position that Oderna had set the Odette body in. She turned that cheshire smile across her face, she faced Death, the one who coward at her sister's touch. "How amusing, the girl loved you, even tried to make you feel better, here you are fleeing. Too gay to care for a silly pathetic girl such as Oderna, hmm? You know, as much as I, that you have quite a bit time between killings. Mortals are such simple creatures, why they will hang on with everything they have till you come,..." she paused letting the air change, she was almost to the point of a giggling mess, how joyous this was Why... Come.. Come to take any hope any chance of their survival. Poor Mortals, no wonder they gave up worshiping you. " She didn't care about his pathetic feelings, oh no she actually enjoyed watching him flinch.
This was a game, it was always a game since arriving to this island... The island, the gods, it was a giant chess-match. If she didn't know better their "guardian" just wanted to watch them all destroy each other, why else send them out to gather creatures? Why else let them do whatever? Why give her the power that the odettes never had, the freedom of choice... Oh how this was such fun, such an eternal game for life. She approached closely to him watching him, as if she was just some predator approaching a victim. This Odette had all the terrible traits of all the other odettes, it was almost as if she picked and choose her own personality. It was really thanks to that fool, that fool Odette falling for such a guy long ago... She even was willing to sacrifice her life, her soul to save the guy... How funny he was as much a monster as she Odatori was, almost as if they were soulmates.
She stopped near by Lord Death, that cheshire smile never flickering. "So what have you been up to? What has been interesting in the life of Death" she was really quite curious, she didn't really pay much attention to the island antics... This might be a chessgame, but she had all the time in the world with the "guardian's gift" to win the game when she felt like it.

He gave an inward groan at the sudden change in the air. Ugh, he wanted to leave. He had a pregnant lover to care for and a job to do. Mozart gave a vicious snort, spouting out more embers as he moved to keep closer to Mirun. He was with his master in the leaving part. "Taken, actually. Too naive to notice?" he gave a sly smile. Oh how his fingers twitched to rip this one apart. It had been a while since he got to hold a surgical knife over someone while he tested what he could. "I do have worshipers, actually, most of them are dead and happily living in an eternal paradise. But that doesn't mean all the departed spirits worship me. What about you? Besides the low-life criminal, who would dare offer you prayers without ever needing something?" Given people prayed to him when they wanted their suffering to end, that was in Mirun's job description. He still had the contract he signed in his blood, and part of it was answering those prayers.
"Please stay within five feet of the Teostra," he said, holding up a hand and whistling, like he was a train coordinator. Mozart rose on his hind legs and roared, trying to make it clear to stay back. Not that Mirun excepted the other to even listen, but he knew acting tough made Mozart feel better, so he would let the Shifter do as he wanted. "I have a life?" he asked, humor in his voice. "Last time I checked, I'm still dead. Wait..." he placed two fingers to his wrist, waiting for his pulse. "Yeah, still dead." Yes, he had a beating heart, but it only worked every few hours, sending a small, weak pulse through his veins. So basically, he was border-line dead. Maybe that was why the old Death had no skin or organs, just bone. Eh, Mirun liked being handsome, thank you very much.

His reaction, was quite soothing, oh she wished she could have more. She did as he commanded, why shouldn't she, he was the bravo death. Such loveliness, why it was as good as the cupcake a thousand years ago, she missed that cupcake. He made the argument of how death worship him, sigh such fun for him to turn to that a bunch of old spirits haunting houses. He must be truly lonely to depend on that, too bad she just couldn't take it from him, why the idea in itself seemed fun. Take death from death, it would be a glorious gift. He could turn to dust, and she... Well be that much stronger, if only, if only, he was as fool as he was long ago.
"We don't choose our worshipers, why if I could, they would be worshiping me out of fear of my own power, rather than some nonsense of 'save me, I am about to be caught'". She felt her insides tingle at the thought of their desperation, to a Goddess they once ignored, and the then she in return ignored them. She wasn't under contract like death, it was more of a gift, something help free her.. If she left a few lonely crooks to perish from their own mistakes, well... Shouldn't Death be thanking her?
He made a mockery of her, that he was "dead". Well, she didn't see the nonsense he spoke of, he looked very much alive to her, she would have argued her case, but why waste the energy? If he wanted to believe he was "Dead" then why bother fighting with death. She gave a dramatic sigh shaking her head, "Here we are on this nice little beach, and you want to be soo harsh, do you have any pity for a young girl?" she tried to sound as sweet and innocent as possible, with of course an edge to her voice. She really didn't care what his reply was, she wasn't going to get anywhere with him... Not today, such a waste of time.
"Well if you are in such a hurry, I guess, I better get going... Such lovely sunset, you probably want to enjoy it with a lie." with that she vanished into a shadow, still lurking to watch his reactions and leave.

Mirun rolled his eyes. He honestly had things to be doing, later on, but he wanted to get out of there now. He was getting annoyed. He was nearly relieved when the other left. Of course he knew she was still there. Mirun could sense life where it was, even if he didn't control it, sometimes people liked to hide from him when their time came. He patted Mozart's neck, speaking to the dragon, but talking indirectly to the Goddess that was hiding. "Don't worry, boy, everyone dies. Even Gods."
