He hated this. He was tired, and he hated visiting the beach. It was so damn early in the morning and he wanted to go back and sleep with his darling. Mirun hated leaving the warm bed and snuggle time. But stupid mortals couldn't stop being mortal and stop dying for five minutes and- wait, was this guy even dead? Giving a yawn, Mirun poked at the body with the end of the scythe, summoning the hourglass. No, there was still sand. Surprisingly. This one had washed up, or fell, or something. Mirun forgot how the mortals came to the island. He didn't even remember how he got here... it wasn't part of the contract but hell, as long as he got to work and the like. That kept him alive.
Sierra the barn owl sat on Mirun's shoulder, watching the one on the sand with a curious gaze, before she spread her wings and flew off, getting in some exercise while Mirun worked. Mozart was there as well, although he was busy chasing off some of the local wolves and coyotes for the hell of it. That left Mirun to do as he pleased, which was poking something he thought was dead until it did something or made a noise. Honestly, he was sleepy, tired, and rather bored.

Jack was acutely aware that he lying in a rather sandy beach. He didn't know how the hell he got there, but at this point he didn't really care. One second he was locked up in an asylum for the criminally insane, and now Jack was lying face down on a beach. It was then that Jack realized 2 things. the first and least interesting was that he was wearing a suit. The second, and much more interesting was that something sharp was repeatedly poking him. Jack was terribly annoyed at this sharp object. Why couldn't he be left alone to wallow in his wreck of a life for the rest of time. Yet Jack's wishes didn't make the insistent poking stop; He would have to get up and acknowledge it at some point.
It was a particularly sharp stab that finally got Jack to respond. He yelped, and quickly stood up. In front of him was a man wielding the scythe that was guilty of poking him for the past while. "Okay what the hell is wrong with you!" Jack almost yelled at the man "Who goes and just pokes people who are minding their own business? All I want right now is some peace and quiet. Hell I don't even know where I am, and I don't think I want to either! Now can you just go and die in a hole, or do ANYTHING that doesn't involve bothering me?" Jack huffed, "look... whoever you are. I'm sorry for snapping like that, I've just had a really weird day, and like I said I have no idea where I am right now. So, what do you want with me?"

Oh hey it moved. Mirun watched with interest when the guy on the sand finally got up. Goodness it was about time. How long had Mirun been standing here? Eh, it didn't matter. He listened with a rather deaf ear. "You want to lay in the sand all day? There is a hotel right over there," he said, pointing with his scythe. "It isn't very good, but it is something. Better than that inn filled with honey." He leaned on his scythe, staring at the stranger. Odd suit. Most people showed up in the clothes they wore when they arrived, but Mirun hadn't seen this. Yet another soul saved by whoever the hell it was bringing them here. He supposed it didn't really matter. More people were showing up to the island every day it seemed, which was rather distressing to some extent. Mirun liked to keep everything organized, especially the hourglasses. He hated it when one just dropped on his head or woke him up for suddenly appearing in the fish tank, or something appearing on a weak shelf and causing every hourglass to fall. At least this one landed on his corgi, which was a nice and soft thing. Not that Alfredo was happy with that but...
He blinked, focusing back on the stranger that seemed to have stopped his tantrum. "My name is Mirun, but you can call me Death, Lord Death, Grim Reaper, or just Mirun. I prefer the latter. And I was here to collect your soul but it seems you were still alive. Either that or I was looking at the wrong hourglass. Maybe old lady Mimi has finally bit the dust," he muttered at the end, summoning another hourglass. "Nope. Damn." He sighed and tossed it away, the hourglass disappearing before it it the sand.
"Anyway, you're on an island. No one really has a name for it, but people randomly show up here, even Gods. So the most you can do is just get along with it and the like," because no one ever left, he wanted to say. Mirun, despite being able to live in his old temple that was built on another planet, he wasn't aloud to leave the grounds unless he came here. It sucked, really. Any boats that went too far got sent back by storms. "As for what I want, you planning on dying any time soon or no? I collect the souls and send them off, that's really it." It was a simple job, but he was rather good at it.

Trigger Warning: Mentions of Suicide
You can call me Death, Lord Death, Grim Reaper, or just Mirun
One, two, three seconds passed, Jack just stared at this man... Mirun, who claimed to be The Grim Reaper. Well, Jack couldn't deny that he didn't look the part with his flashy scythe. To be honest Jack didn't really care if Mirun was who he said he was. So Jack just shrugged and went along with it. "Okay, Mirun... Death" Jack said "Why didn't you come for my soul earlier? Why have you waited so long to finally acknowledge me? " Jack was trying to keep his voice level and without edge to it, but he found that he wasn't completely successful. Jack was always terrible when it came to social situations, he hated them, but Jack knew that he would have to suck it up, he had been waiting to meet this man for so long now. "Do you know how many times I've made an attempt on my own life? do you know how many times I've woken up in a hospital bed with a head filled with rage and some nurse leaning over me, telling me that because of some medical miracle I came back from the brink of death?" A long pause. "Too many times" Jack answered his own question. "So Death, Mirun, My name is Jack Milliner, and it's nice to finally meet you." Jack suddenly remembered that the normal social rules called for someone to offer a handshake when introducing themselves, Jack quickly stuck out his hand (which he hadn't realized had been decorated with white leather gloves until now). "uhhh, handshake?"

He leaned on the scythe, staring at the other while he spoke. Ah, one of those types eh? Mirun had gotten his head bit off a few times, sometimes things thrown at him, when he dealt with people like this. Not that he minded. He sighed and shrugged. "Wasn't your time, I suppose." He couldn't blame it on the old Reaper like he could have a few thousand years ago, sadly. That was alright though."The hourglasses notify me when it is time for someone to die. Sometimes people will lay suffering for hours until I get the notice, because they had to. Time is a fickle thing." It was all the truth, Mirun didn't make the rules. The past Death didn't, or the Death before that or the one before that or even the one before that! The first Death made up the rules, now all that followed had to abide by them.
He shook the other's hand, raising an eyebrow. "Going to a party? You certainly are dressed the part." Hey, Mirun had seen people appear on this island naked before, it wasn't like it was a huge shock.

"Going to a party? You certainly are dressed the part."
Jack almost laughed at the idea. "Me? A Party? I'm not exactly that kind of guy." Jack's voice than turned rather morbid. "But I do know a man that who is" Jack took a moment to really examine his suit. He had never seen anything like it before. It was obviously tailor made because it fit perfectly. How ever Jack knew that the suit didn't fit his personality at all, It was too, flashy, too regal and proud. The suit was for a man who loved attention and being in the spotlight. The Suit was made for THE OTHER. While Jack was examining the suit he felt something strange. He felt as if their was a new part of his brain. When Jack tried to explore this new alien addition he was stopped by a sort of barrier. Jack pushed against this barrier with all his mental might until, finally, it broke. Jack gasped, he was filled with the feeling of power, and the feeling of being alive, Jack loved the feeling. But it was only for a few short moments as the power manifested into something in his hands, a wineglass filled to the brim with red wine. "did, did you see that!?" Jack exclaimed to Mirun. "H-How is this possible?!"
