It is hard to know exactly what type of personality Rune has. He has various acts he can pull in order to deceive someone when he is in his human form, though he usually tends to remain quiet. His speech pattern is all screwed up since he had to learn by ear, never having a proper tutor in the modern day language. Because of this, he gets flustered whenever he stumbles over words, yet he gets mad whenever someone laughs at him. There are cases where he will just bite his tongue and glare, giving the silent treatment to anyone and everyone. He has a horrible time with playing nice with others, and his trust in even a speck of dirt is lacking. It takes a while just to get emotionally close to him, and it takes even longer for him to put his faith, trust, and pixie dust loyalty in you.

He lives each day as if there was someone or something out to get him, and he is overly cautious to the point where he won't even cross the road until someone else does to make sure it is safe. Rune was the runt of his litter in the Underworld. Out of all of his brothers and sisters, he was, for the most part, ignored by his mother. He was the weakest, so she had hope for him. She would allow him to feed, but that was it. He was bullied by his brothers and sisters, he was given the last priority by everyone, and he was often forgotten and left behind whenever they needed to move around. As he entered adolescence, he was completely kicked out of the family, disowned and chased out by his snarling mother and siblings.
He wandered about the Underworld for a long time, struggling to stay alive. He received little to no pity from the other demons and souls living in the Underworld. Not even Hades would glance his way. Months turned into years, and years turned into centuries. Eventually, he was able to find a way out of the Underworld, sneaking into the mortal world. He did not quite understand why people ran from him. He was not scary, according to the one who had never looked at himself in a mirror before. When he was able to see his true appearance, however, he finally understood why none of the mortals would greet him admirably.
It took him a few years, but he was finally able to figure out how to use his transformation skills to turn into a human. The energy spent just to maintain the form was too much for him, and his passed out not long after transforming each time. As time passed him by, he grew more accustomed to the change, and he was able to start wandering around villages and cities, learning the language slowly. He also found out the wonders of garbage cans, though he often preferred to steal meat from the butcher's shop as the moon rose high into the sky.
One day, however, he woke up in a completely different place with a slip of paper next to him. While he might understand the basic concepts of speech, he was as literate as a rock. The paper was promptly burned, and he was forced to wander around, wondering where the hell he happened to be.

You could say that there are three forms that this boy can take on. There is his true form, that of a hellhound, an in-between form, and his human form that allows him to blend in with society. His true form stands five feet at the shoulder with leathery black skin and barely any fur. Glowing red lines run along his body, forming symbols and patterns, though most of them run along his veins. They glow brighter when angered or when he is about to breathe flames. This form is his strongest form, allowing him to use all of the powers and strength that come with his species.
His "in-between" form is the fine line between transformations. The shadowy figure has little detail other than having the basic shape of a human boy and having glowing yellow 'eyes'. This form is only given access to the strength, speed, and endurance of his species. Rune cannot speak while in this form.

Blue eyes are calm, symbolizing the human form. Yellow eyes are irritated, symbolizing the in-between form. Red eyes are rage, symbolizing his true form, and if he is allowed to remain enraged, he will shift forms and fly into a fury.
When it comes to the powers he has as a Hellhound, there is a given: his senses are enhanced, as are his speed, strength, and stamina/endurance. Brute strength is not all he has. As a Hellhound, he can create and manipulate fire. He is rather reckless and often sets entire buildings on fire, but I digress. He also has enhanced regenerative abilities, but he can only heal when in his true form. If he is harmed in his in-between form, the healing is somewhat slower, but he will not heal at all in his human form. While many of his kind can kill a person just by having them look into their eyes three or more times, Rune was not blessed with this ability. It does not help his case that he was a runt.
