honest to god i will break your heart This wasn't the reputable tavern at the center of Owl City; that was directed more toward the older, more respectable types, and though the place brought back memories it wasn't the seedy little establishment he was looking for. No, tonight he wanted something a little more modern. Someplace loud, someplace fashionable- preferably a place where no one was quite in their right mind. And what better than a club? The music was throbbing, lights flashing obnoxiously, and by this point in the evening almost everyone had at least some form of alcohol in them. Perfect. It was just the sort of environment he liked to prowl; screw this island and it's peaceful, crystal-clear waters. There was sin somewhere, that was the way that humans worked, and where there sin there was prey. He wasn't looking to eat tonight, necessarily- he'd taken a deer not too long ago, and though it wasn't ideal it would tide him over- so for now he was simply scoping things out, getting a feel for this place and the people that lived in it. And hey, if he found a more long-term target to keep an eye on for later, all the better, right? Which found him at the bar, nursing a drink as he kept an eye on the people around him. No one was drunk enough to see him trying to dance quite yet- the boy had two left feet, really- so he was content to hang out on the sidelines, keeping an eye out for anyone of interest. Someone particularly innocent, maybe, though easy prey wasn't any fun. Someone a little darker would work just as well... But alas, no one in particular had yet captured his attention. Weak-willed little sheep, the lot of them- if only someone with a little bite would show up, then maybe the night wouldn't be a complete waste. It had been too long since he'd had a proper challenge. ooc: agh kinda rushed sorry /terrible starter is terrible @Ivan Romanovtear you to pieces, rip you apart

There was no reason why he was here, except to take a break from the saddle. Ivan had been travelling around the main island, further to the south than he liked. He was in his usual skinny jeans, a loose T-shirt, and his favorite leather jacket. And his leather boots, but that was another story. Typically, he would have went right home after travelling, but for some reason, he was in desperate desire for something to drink and he didn't want to wait for the ferry before he got it. He pulled Lucifer up to the side of the establishment, ignoring any weird looks he got. It wasn't every day someone was riding around on the former horse of the Grim Reaper with a giant Saber Tooth Cat beside him. Stepping off of the saddle, Ivan tied the reigns around a near-by pole, holding out a hand for Zhou to stay put.
"Hey, can I come in?" Lucifer asked, the damned horse talked thanks to the magic on the island. "No," Ivan replied, taking the bit out of Lucifer's mouth so the horse could rest easy and eat the grass growing between the sidewalk. "Why?" "No." Ivan patted the horse's neck before rubbing Zhou's, a little Norwegian Thorntail crawling up Ivan's arm to rest right up against his neck, spitting some smoke. Without another word, the snow leopard shifter put on the sunglasses, to hide his bright red eyes with black whites, and went in. The sudden onslaught of the smells, sounds, and lights made him stop in his tracks and study his surroundings. His eyes swung from place to place before they settled on an empty seat at the bar. A quick drink was all he wanted. Better than wasting his stocks. He put his hands in his jacket pockets and walked over to the bar, moving between the dancers as if they were nothing more than idle snowfall. Thankfully snow leopards had nimble feet.
Sitting down, he just held up one finger, not speaking a single word. The bar tender gave him an odd look, which was returned with a pocket sized dragon giving the best roar he could and spitting a few embers onto the counter which quickly flickered away, leaving behind a trail of smoke. Ivan glanced around him, noticing a few people, trying to memorize faces. It was when there was a lot of people like this he sometimes let his ability out. He saw times, clicking down above people's heads, and he assessed each one before he blocked out the power again, sipping at his drink quietly. He hoped no one would talk to him. Ivan wasn't the best at conversation.

honest to god i will break your heart Sigh. It didn't seem like this was going to turn out to be a successful night. Hunting itself was an imperfect art, of course; even the most amazing of hunters only had a one in five chance on any given chase, and though that's what made success so rewarding face it, losing still sucked. It was all this stupid island's fault, he just knew it. For some reason people here always seemed to be different than your average, stupid human, and it was really putting a damper on his game. The music wasn't even live; honestly, he wasn't really sure where he'd been going with this. The hunter was just about to call it a night- he wasn't going to waste his time in a cheap place like this that so assaulted his senses if he didn't have anything to gain from it. He threw back the rest of his drink in one smooth shot, preparing to cut his losses and get out- when a man sitting down at a place not too far from him caught his attention. Was that... a dragon? Talk about making an entrance. Tats, piercings, dark leather- though the strong, silent vibe was part of the charm, Jas was sure the other had a sexy as hell voice as well- and all in all, this stoic stranger was definitely the least person in the joint. Hmm. This warranted... investigating. They weren't sitting terribly far away from each other, and there was no one between them. It made it easy for Jas to make his move; the fey slid over to the stranger's side, close but not quite touching, leaning onto the bar and pushing the boundaries of personal space. "My, my. And what have we here?" He coed, mismatched eyes focusing on the unfortunate object of his attention. He paused just long enough to rap the counter lightly and procure for himself another drink, before turning a lazy grin on the other man. "I was beginning to think there wasn't a single creature in this place worth my interest. How about you prove me wrong, hmm? Entertain me and I might be able to make it worth your while." His gaze flickered over the other's frame none-too-subtly, a single eyebrow arching in appreciation of what he found. Maybe he could still salvage his evening- humans could satisfy more needs than simply hunger, after all. tear you to pieces, rip you apart

It was sad to say Ivan was quite used to people getting in his personal space. He learned to ignore it, as long as they didn't pet his cat Iceland, who wasn't even here today. Thankfully. He glanced at the stranger that had moved closer to him over the rim of the sunglasses, red eyes shining in the various lights, but dead-pan with no emotions, like his face. It was common for Ivan to never show what he was feeling. He honestly didn't have much to say or much to proclaim, or even show. When he did, he did so with a deep growl and with a spiking tail in his snow leopard form. His species as rather... silent in their human bodies. The only thing they were good for was the thumbs. And other things but that never interested Ivan either. He would happily die a virgin, or he would have happily died one but that was a story for another time.
He sipped his drink, keeping his eyes on the stranger, debating if he should humor them or not. While debating, Ivan's eyes slid to Russia, who had planted himself right on the edge of the shifter's shoulder, growling and hissing at the stranger, smoke pouring out of the tiny mouth. Almost without a second thought, Ivan pinched the dragon's mouth closed with his index finger and thumb, pressing very gently, but enough to make the dragon struggle back far enough Ivan could pluck him up by the tail before setting him on the counter, shoving a walnut he found in a container at the dragon.
Then the epic battle began. The dragon growled at the nut and began to attack it, leaving a few scratches on the exterior of the nut as he rolled around on the counter, Ivan's gaze amused. Then he focused his attention back on the stranger, raising an eyebrow and shrugging his shoulders very slightly. Ivan tended to speak in signals more than words. It took effort to get him to talk. He sipped his drink again, handing Russia another walnut once he thoroughly destroyed the other one. This was going to be a long rest-stop, he could only wonder what Lucifer was doing outside. Probably giving old ladies a heart attack, making Death's job harder or something. He honestly didn't know or care.

honest to god i will break your heart The other was just blinking at him. Hmm. That was... a bit of a letdown. Was it just him, or was the other completely expressionless? That was not a reaction he usually received. He'd been rejected before, sure- that was fun though, that just meant he'd have a good chase. He'd been on the receiving end of a huge variety of reactions, everywhere from anger to fear to downright disdain, but never had he been completely ignored. It was... rather irritating. His smile didn't leave his face but became slightly strained; his eyes lost their playful glint, becoming hard with determination. Oh, it was on. He'd make this guy give him some response. Did he catch a glint of red eyes over those glasses? So maybe his chosen prey wasn't human- that didn't matter, the challenge was on. The pocket dragon was... random. Honestly, he hated this island; he liked being the only predator, the wolf among the sheep. It was too much work otherwise. He glared at the little creature, suspicious, though he didn't dare let his smile slip. "Yes, that's... entertaining, I suppose. Very clever." He didn't know what he thought about the viciousness the little creature displayed- he didn't have any right to be horrified by acts of violence, but come on, that was weird. He turned his gaze back to the human(oid?), letting out a small chuckle. "Not bad, gorgeous. Name's Jas- care to grace me with yours?" He held on to his cool confidence, though he pulled his hands off the bar and into his lap- he might not be afraid, but arrogance was no reason to let that little demon creature at his fingers, thank you very much. tear you to pieces, rip you apart

He sipped at his drink, his eyes focusing back in the stranger, studying him as if he was a specimen in a museum. Placing the glass down, Ivan didn't speak, but instead pulled at Russia's tail slightly, swirling his finger over the dragon's head, the small creature following the movements before it got dizzy and collapsed with a small whine, finally managing to latch himself to Ivan's finger, crawling up his hand back to his shoulder. All was right with the world when Russia was back where he belonged. A fine eyebrow arched at the nickname. Gorgeous? Who? Russia? Why yes, he was a gorgeous dragon. Or... did this stranger mean him? Red pupils trailed to the long hair, eyeing it like a cat eyes a feather toy.
Now this was curious. Ivan swore he felt like something was off with this stranger. Humans was something that Ivan had come to consider rare and interesting creatures, being born where they were so few and usually eaten at birth. The meat was rather tender, but that was besides the point. He sniffed the air a bit, smelling some odd scents, but not being able to name anything besides the smell of a club with alcohol and sweat. Ugh. So much for that. He focused his gaze above the man's head then, watching the clock tick down. Such a pity, so much time left. Oh well. Ivan rested his chin on the back of his hand, trying to remember the name. Jas, huh?
"Ivan," he said quietly, not going to go beyond that. What else was there to say? Oh yes, I'm a snow leopard and I get the hint of fish from you so you seem like a tasty snack. Yes, because that would sound very nice and very normal. "You're hair..." he mumbled, looking back at it. "Reminds me of a cat toy." That was not an insult in Ivan's language, but a compliment. He desperately wanted to bat at it and maybe bite it. What? He was allowed to have fun. Sometimes.

honest to god i will break your heart The other male... didn't seem to get it. Huh. That was... that was weird. Surely hr wasn't completely innocent; when pursuing someone Jas was less than subtle. Was it all just going over the other's head, or was he well and truly being shut out? ...no, that was preposterous. He obviously wasn't coming on strong enough. Challenge accepted. At the very least, he was able to get the other's name; it was a victory, no matter how small or petty. "A good, masculine name." He nodded his appreciation, sliding even closer and all but draping himself on the other's shoulder. "Very strong." He trailed a finger along Ivan's arm, purring low in his throat. "I like that in a man. Where'd you get the-" tats, he would have said, except then the stranger made some comment about his hair and woahwoahwoah, hold it. What had the bastard just said? It was one thing to resist his advances, that could even be fun under the right circumstances, but even he had boundaries. "I- excuse me, sir, but my hair is not a toy."
Okay, so... maybe that last part had come out a little snappish. Ehheh, whoops. He pulled away a bit, shaking himself a tad as he regained his composure. "Ah... Not that you couldn't play with it, if you asked nicely. I hear it can be quite fun to tug." No, he wasn't off-balance, not at all; stupid Ivan and his stupid expressionless face. tear you to pieces, rip you apart

Goosebumps followed the trail the finger made along his arms, but Ivan didn't even notice, he was already focusing on something else going on. He perked back up at the words. Now where was all this coming from? Was this some odd human mating ritual? Either someone put a ring on Ivan's finger or they got nothing. Or, do what his species did, kill the largest creature you can and present it to the one you want to mate with. If they eat it, congratulations, you just got a wife. If they don't, well, there are other cats out there. Probably.
Oh? So it wasn't a toy? What a shame and- wait, so it was? Ivan was confused. Did this man accept the fact he had good hair or not? Ivan searched Jas's face, trying to figure this one out. So strange. This island was weird. The snow leopard sipping his drink again, putting the empty glass down and pushing it away slightly, resting his elbows on the counter. So he was allowed to tug at it? Something told Ivan touching this stranger would be a very bad idea, unless he had gloves or something he could slip out of. Eh, it was probably just the alcohol.
"What are you trying to accomplish?" Ivan finally asked, giving a smile for once, though it was playful and slightly innocent. "You're very strange." Yes, Ivan had engaged in flirting before, but only with drunk people and when he felt like being heartless to them and crushing all their hopes, but this guy wasn't drunk. Wasn't flirting a drunk phenomenon?

honest to god i will break your heart Ahha! That was a smile! Sweet, sweet victory- his own smile grew a little less strained, sweetened by true happiness that he was finally getting somewhere. Even the reserved ones fell to him eventually, it was just a matter of patience, that was all. Those goosebumps were just proof that even this handsome, irritating man wasn't completely immune. And okay, maybe he thought that innocence was a little cute, bite him- ohh, actually, that wasn't a bad idea. Hmm. He laughed softly, predatory eyes taking note that the other had just drained what seemed to be a pretty strong drink and filing the little tidbit away for later. That could be an edge. Later, later- he just had to be patient. "Mmm. I'd think my intentions were rather clear, darling. Hot little thing like you couldn't possibly be unfamiliar with it." He purred, knocked back the rest of his second drink of the evening before calling out to the bartender. "Another round for the both of us! On me, naturally." Getting his prey completely drunk was cheating, of course- he was nothing if not honest- but taking the edge off of any inhibitions couldn't possibly hurt. Besides, it was only polite. And, alright, maybe he was having a tough time getting a read on this guy. The tattoos and piercings definitely screamed the type that were usually into him, or at least someone familiar with what generally happened when two hot, young, single beings met in a bar. Yet he seemed so damn innocent- either he was completely naive or the best actor Jas had ever met. Didn't particularly matter to him, either way he was intrigued. "And yes, I am rather... fascinating, aren't I? But so are you. Tell me about yourself." Sometimes it was easier to just cut to the chase- that was the good part, anyway. tear you to pieces, rip you apart

The mood in the air changed. Ivan could practically taste it. His eyes narrowed behind the sunglasses, studying the other with a feline curiosity. Something was up with this guy, and Ivan didn't know what. That annoyed him. He kept the smile firmly planted on his face though. Ivan felt like this was a game of cat and mouse. Where he was the mouse. Oh no. He was never going to be degraded to something so pitiful. A snow leopard like him was of the highest class of felines in his species, so like hell he was going to become the prey. He smirked inwardly, time to see if he could turn the tables. He perked up a bit when the other drinks were called. Good thing he wasn't human, it would take more than a few of these to get him tipsy. He had his human and cat side to get drunk, after all. In all honesty, Ivan felt as if this was going to go either in one direction (to a bed room) or in another (somewhere else, perhaps a street fight, he didn't know, he didn't visit cities often enough).
Sipping the new drink when it arrived, he decided to play it polite for now. He looked back at Jas, hos smile still there. "Me? I'm rather boring," that was the truth. Nothing interesting ever really happened. This island was so strange that fights like who had the most interesting weekend seemed rather pointless. "I want to learn more about you." And what you are, he thought. The game was afoot. Cat and mouse. Of course, Ivan didn't want to play for too long. He had other things to be doing, like a solitary trip back north with his creatures. Almost forgetting, he plucked Russia off his shoulder again, the little dragon having fallen asleep. He gently placed the dragon into his jacket pocket, zipping it up half way so the dragon wouldn't tumble out at some point.
Speaking of which, he wondered what Zhou was doing. Hopefully not scaring some dogs to death and chasing them up trees. And Lucifer probably got a good stack of dead old ladies he scared by talking at them. Oh well, he would cross that bridge when he came to it. No need to worry about it now, right?

honest to god i will break your heart Mmm, this was fun. He always liked a good game, especially one like this where nothing in particular was on the line. If he lost, well, he'd spent his evening sipping drinks and hitting on a hot stranger; there were worse things in life. And if he won, well, mmm. They could find a nice hotel somewhere and make it a night to remember, now couldn't they? Yes, that sounded like a wonderful plan. That response wasn't the most promising of things, but judging by how difficult it had been to get Ivan to even smile he wasn't going to be discouraged. He was probably just the shy type, if anything that was probably a good sign. Besides, at least he was showing some interest. That was good, he had the other hooked now. Let the game begin. "You don't honestly expect me to believe that, do you?" He laughed, smiling at the other slyly. "Any man with a pocket dragon has to have a story. But if you're playing hard to get, well, I suppose I understand..." He sipped at his drink lightly, leaning heavily on the other. "Besides, if that's what you really want, who am I to deny you anything? What did you want to know, darling? I swear I'll be nothing but honest. Scout's honor." He chuckled to himself; you know, this was actually pretty pleasant. A game, sure, but not a terribly serious one- it didn't seem to him that this man was mortal, which took him off the menu, anyway. Lowered the stakes quite a bit, let him relax. He could get used to this. tear you to pieces, rip you apart

As fun as this was and as cute as the other was, Ivan didn't feel any drive. He supposed that wasn't really normal for most but he was fine with it. Either way he got something out of it. A nice conversation, free booze, and maybe a chance to please someone else. There was just one thing though. One thing that was making him curious. What was this stranger? He decided to play along. Letting the other get closer to him, Ivan let out something close to a purr, just to keep the game going. An encouragement. He had no desire to get into bed with anyone, just came with his territory, but he was fine playing games like this. He liked playing the innocent, naive type. It made it even more fun. He was beginning to open up a bit more to enjoy himself.
He gave a sly smile in return, leaning in close himself so his lips were close to brushing up against Jas's, but never actually touching. "I want to know what you are." He said seductively, leaning back and finally taking off his sunglasses, tucking one arm of them into the shirt so they would stay close. "I assume you can tell humans when you see one," he said, sipping his drink again, giving a sharp-toothed grin. "So tell me what you are, and I'll share what I am in return." It was a common deal Ivan made at his own bar. He got to see who was what and in return, he got to show what he was. As far as Ivan knew, he was the only of his kind on this island. Call it hopeful bliss, but one day, while playing this game, he desperately wished to meet one of his own kind again. He highly doubted this man was one of his own, but for some reason, Ivan just wanted to meet someone like him. From his same neck of the forest or not, just from his world. Just someone like him.

honest to god i will break your heart This guy certainly seemed to know what he was doing. It probably should have made him nervous, especially when personal questions came up, but he didn't feel like it was particularly dangerous. The other just... enjoyed yanking him around, that's all. But there wasn't any harm in playing hard to get, hopefully, which meant he was more or less free to have his fun with no consequences. Maybe. He loved getting the other to open up, in any case, and it was a pleasant way to spend the evening. That slight purr, that sly smirk- by this point Jas was pretty sure this wasn't going anywhere, but this boy knew how to give him just enough to keep him hooked. The hunter ought to know better than to fall for that, of course, but it was perfectly harmless... right? Besides, it was hard to give it up when it felt like he was almost there. He couldn't say he was surprised when the other removed the glasses- he definitely hadn't been giving off a human vibe- but though the red eyes were a bit of a shock he only found himself more intrigued. But this was getting a little more dangerous than their pleasantries of before. It simply didn't do to go flaunting his heritage to anyone who asked- he wasn't exactly fond of being chased down by angry mobs with pitchforks, thank you very much- and not being able to lie was a bit of a blow as well. But he could still be... graceful about it, right? "Are you sure you want to play that game, sweetie?" He purred, low and dangerous, mismatched eyes flashing in the low light. "Though I'm sure it's safe to assume neither of us is exactly as we seem, hmm?" His human form didn't have pointed fangs, actually, just normal teeth, but that didn't stop him from flashing a wicked smirk. It was exciting, knowing that there was at least one other hunter on this island full of prey. As long as they didn't get in each others' way... tear you to pieces, rip you apart
